Food and Nutrition
At Wood Wharf Kindergarten, we believe that a healthy, balanced diet is essential for a child’s physical growth, cognitive development, and overall wellbeing. That’s why we’ve made nutrition a central part of our daily routine ensuring every child receives the nourishment they need to thrive.
Fresh, Nutritious Meals Prepared Daily
Our in-house chefs prepare fresh meals and snacks every day in our nursery kitchen, using high-quality ingredients and seasonal produce. Each dish is thoughtfully planned to be both delicious and nutritionally balanced, supporting children’s energy levels, concentration, and immune health.
We serve:
- Breakfast to start the day right
- Lunch and dinner with varied, wholesome options
- Morning and afternoon snacks to keep little tummies satisfied
Cookery Classes & Food Education
Food is more than just fuel, it’s a learning opportunity. Our cookery classes introduce children to the basics of food preparation, helping them understand where food comes from, how it’s made, and why healthy choices matter. These hands-on sessions also build fine motor skills, confidence, and a sense of independence.
Expertly Planned Menus
Our menus are carefully designed to include a minimum of five portions of fruit and vegetables per day, ensuring children receive a wide range of vitamins and nutrients. We cater to dietary requirements and preferences, and always aim to make mealtimes enjoyable, inclusive, and educational.
Sustainability Meets Nutrition
In line with our commitment to sustainability, we source ingredients responsibly and encourage children to take part in growing their own food in our vegetable patch. This not only supports healthy eating habits but also fosters a deeper connection to nature and the environment.
